The mission of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is to advance the profession of physiotherapy in order to improve the health of Canadians. We achieve this by providing members with professional resources and practice advantages, and by the promotion of the profession to the public.

CPA programs respond to member needs, deliver peace of mind and practice advantages, promote the exchange of information between clinicians and researchers, and generate advocacy and awareness for the profession so that more Canadians will access physiotherapy on its own merits, free of unwarranted legislative or economic constraints.

Membership provides immediate access to a broad range of benefits and services, including:
  • Membership in a provincial Branch of CPA, with additional Branch services in areas such as fee negotiations and professional advocacy
  • Access to membership in CPA’s clinical practice Divisions, each of which provides valuable practice information and education
  • Quality services including captive malpractice insurance, clinic accreditation, and credit card discount programs
  • A respected presence and advocate among key decision-makers on issues ranging from scope of practice to health care reform
  • Access to a variety of professional development and leadership opportunities including diverse volunteer roles, distance learning, and Congresses that offer exceptional learning and networking opportunities
  • A high profile with the public achieved through paid advertising and media relations, as well as effective public information resources
  • Clinically relevant professional resources including Scout, Contact and Physiotherapy Canada, the scientific peer-reviewed journal
